Pack 254 attended a geology and nature class at Lake County's P.E.A.R. Park, just south of Leesburg. We learned many things about identifying animal bones and furs, different types of rocks and minerals and how they are formed. After lunch we embarked on a nature hike and learned about invasive plants and animals, prescribed burns, and how to help protect our environment. The Scouts then helped to eradicate some Caesar's Weed in the woods to try and limit this invasive species spread in the park. During this visit, the Scouts worked on requirements towards a variety of badges including their Geology belt loop, Geology pins, and the World Conservation Award.
